Baking, FOOD, My recipes MY RECIPE BOX: Homemade apple slice with warm custard sauce 23 June 2014

I’m really not a fan (I don’t like fruit in my dessert, because really, what’s the point??), but Chris loves a warm Apple Pie.

And, I figure, if I’m gonna bake a dessert, might as well make something vaguely healthy for the kids, right?

So we ended up with an Apple Pie with Warm Custard Sauce…. served fresh and piping hot out of the oven 🙂 You can see the recipe here.

It’s probably medium difficult. Not so much that it’s hard to make, but due to the fact that there are 3 different batches to combine into one pie. The ingredients are pretty basic though, so it’s still pretty straightforward to make yourself at home.

This is the base being mixed up.. it’s like making a regular cake, but perhaps a bit more thick in texture.

I cooked my apples with some cinnamon, and cooked it for just over 20 mins (way more than what the recipe said). That’s because I wanted the apples to be sweet and soft.

This is the top part of the pie, which is rough looking and forms into a crispy crust or crumble. It is SO good fresh out of the oven!!

Here it is.. still warm 🙂

I made up a batch of custard (you can search online for the simple recipe), to drape on top of the pie. If you can’t be bothered, it’s awesome with good ‘ol vanilla ice cream too.
