CHANEL TOTE & 2.55 CLASSIC FLAP

Guess where I am?

I’m in a freakin’ TOILET in the above picture, believe it or not.

Yeah.. only a Chanel boutique could make a bathroom look sexy.

So yep, there we were shopping along Madison Ave whilst we were in NYC… and oh look a Chanel! No harm popping in there to have a squizz, right?

Didn’t realise we’d walk outta there with a bag :P

The Chanel tote is a beautiful classic bag. It has lots of compartments in there, is a lovely size and shape, and in a fabulous neutral gunmetal. Love the new ‘soft caviar’ material as well. I think it looks pretty timeless, but is also very practical and sturdy for daily wear.. and so encouraged Mum to get it :P I think it looks pretty awesome on her too, and fits nicely on her shoulder!

And my little baby is the Chanel 2.55 classic flap. It’s a bag I’ve been eyeing for a loooong time, but never took the plunge, and just watched on as the price kept creeping up and up each year. Gulp! I bit the bullet and bought one from the USA and got it shipped in.

I actually got this Chanel awhile back, and a couple of you with super-eagle eyes have already spotted it in a couple of photos (you’ll see it pop up in most of my recent NYC trip posts).

It’s a simple bag, but really timeless and still suitable for when I’m much older (ie. I don’t look silly carrying it like I would carrying, say, a Balenciaga when I’m old). It’s caviar, which I ended up deciding on instead of lambskin, so that it’s more durable.

I’m loving it!

Really like the turnlock clasp on the silver hardware

It actually makes a nice casual bag because it’s so sleek and simple. It can be worn with the chain doubled-up, or with the chain long. Both ways look really nice, IMHO :)

Worn with the strap doubled (ie. shorter)

Worn with the strap long, hits roughly at the hip

And a pic copied from my previous blog post, but here it is again, with the strap long

CHANEL LEATHER SANDALS

I used to live in heels, because I really needed the extra height ;) It all became a distant memory when Hunter rocked up… and even more of an impossibility now that we have 2 kids. I spend most days in flats now – predominantly ballet flats and sandals.

The issue with wearing flats is that they then make you look super casual. So if I go to the city in just a tee and shorts and my flats… well.. I reckon I look like the nanny or the maid ;) For that reason, I tend to go for pretty flats, so at least they make me feel vaguely more dressed up.

I particularly adore my new Chanel leather sandals because they’re uber comfortable, have cute hardware detailing, and they’re made of soft leather and black (ie. I think it makes them seem ‘nicer’ for the city than wearing rubber flip flops). They’re easy to slip on, and a great daily sandal to wear :)

They still hug my flat/skinny feet, yay!

Mr Shoe Connoisseur spotted my new shoes and insisted I take them off…

…then proceeded to merrily parade around in them

Hello my pretties!

Korean fabric sandals I bought the other day. They’re cute and gaudy, all at the same time ;)

Another pair of flats I bought (from PrettyFit, a local brand). I got the ballerina-pink one.. the crystals are gorgeous and so sparkly!!

EUROTRIP: CHANEL EARRINGS

Whilst in Paris, I just had to check out the Chanel boutiques. I was determined not to buy a bag, and was pleased I managed to resist :P I did see a pair of gunmetal silver booties that were adorable, but had quite a high heel.. so I decided to pass on them since high heels are not good for big ‘ol pregnant women, lest we topple over!

I did, however, ask to see their earrings. Chris decided to get me another (his main anniversary present to me is a secret just for us at the moment!) anniversary present and picked out a pair of Chanel earrings that I simply adore!!!! It’s a plain simple black “CC”, with a single round pearl dangling from each one. We thought it was really classic and understated, and I can wear it for many years to come. It was also a little Paris souvenir for us to remember our 1st year anniversary in Paris…. so it will always put a smile on my face every time I put them on :)

I love how they go with everything since they’re so understated. And, Chris likes me with pearl jewellery so this was just perfect. THANK YOU honey, I looooooove them lots :)

I has a Chanel (paper) bag!

So cute how buying something (relatively) cheap at Chanel still gets you pretty packaging!
Kindly ignore the silly duffer in the background ;)

On me! Quite understated, right?

And a close-up. Love them :)

CHANEL EXPANDABLE LAMBSKIN TOTE

So quite a lot of you have really sharp eyes and spotted the Chanel in the picture I posted last week :P

I’ve always thought Chanel was a lovely brand, and have always wanted to buy a handbag. However, every single time I went into the store, I just couldn’t find anything that tickled my fancy! I always found their bags were either a bit odd-looking, or just not super soft and slouchy (like my beloved Balenciagas). And so, months and years passed by and I never could find anything that I really wanted to buy…. probably a good thing for my bank account :P

But recently, whilst surfing the net, I stumbled across photos the Chanel expandable lambskin tote. It was big and roomy, in a gorgeous soft lambskin, and with Chanel’s iconic quilting pattern and chain straps. Fascinated, I called and checked basically almost every store, in every country in the world. Only to be told it was a limited edition and completely “sold out”. Arrrghhhhh!

I coveted it more and more, and lay in wait, stalking eBay obsessively for weeks.. but it either didn’t come up, or was ridiculously priced. Then finally, a lady I knew online was selling hers, in new condition! Even better, she lived in California and near the Hotel Valencia where I was staying, so she very very nicely drove all the way over (at 11PM at night!) to meet me and pass me the bag, saving me shipping costs :)

I looooove the way the leather smells, and how soft, unstructured and slouchy it is. Perfectly my style, and the “CHANEL” logo is a small silver one at the top and not massively across the bag, so it’s not totally obvious it’s Chanel unless you look closely. And I like the fact that it’s limited edition and not their super popular 2.55 bags that are a dime a dozen now, not to mention faked all over the place :( They look really good on people, but I don’t think it’s for me.

This bag’s really roomy, and fits in a TON of my junk. I do wish it wasn’t so high, because I have to stick my hand allll the way down (even though I’m using a purse organiser, which fits in perfectly btw), but it does look good that way I guess :P I also love how the chain straps ‘cinch’ the bag shut, so pick-pocketers can’t get in easily.

My favourite purchase during my entire USA trip, by far. Happy day! :D

I even like the box, LOL

Awesome slouchy leather… mmm…

I love the little details

Cute zipper! The “CC” is so solid and heavy

I like the way it hangs :)

It doesn’t look to massive on me, yay!
