MY SHOPPING IN AUSTRALIA

I actually didn’t do much shopping in Australia during our trip. I know, unbelievable!! It was mainly because the cost of the flight itself blew a HUGE hole in our budget (flights to/from Australia are prohibitively high), so I wasn’t really in the mood to shop up a storm.

Mostly, we bought baby stuff. Nothing exciting, but necessities that Hunter and/or #2 needs. I was on a mission to find zip-up onesie pajamas because they’re rare in Singapore, and quite expensive. Most onesie pajamas are all button-up, which are technically fine, but quite a hassle when you have a wriggling baby or impatient toddler. I LOVE the zip-up ones because they are so much easier to get on/off! So we got a whole bunch of them in Australia :)

Apart from baby stuff, not that much fashion shopping. In fact, I didn’t even go nuts at Alannah Hill, like I fully expected I would! All I got was a belt there, which was $69 down to $29 – bargain.

I did get a little something from Mimco though, the Fortune Hip Bag in scarlet. I lovely, soft bright red bag! I liked the size, the metal hardware on the front, and the strap that can be extended to go cross-body. I don’t have modelling pics with it on me, but if you scroll to my previous posts, you’ll see it popping up :)

It’s a lovely, casual bag that’s so soft, and I really like the leather (it smells delish!). It was also on 50% off, which did it for me ;)

My all-time favourite jewellery store in Australia is Kerry Rocks. Her designs are exactly my style – delicate and thin with little gems here and there. I always feel a frisson of excitement whenever I step into the boutique, because my eyeballs just go mental from all the pretty eye candy :P

I had to exercise a lot of self-restraint when my girl friend and I were there ;) After ages, I finally decided on just one necklace – turquoise beaded necklace with a gold hummingbird charm. It’s simple, a pretty pop of colour, and matches heaps of my clothing. I like it :) You’ll also see pics of me wearing this in all my recent blog posts.

And here’s an adorable little thing I got for Hunter and #2.. it’s from Peter Alexander, also one of my fave Aussie brands. HOW CUTE IS THIS?!?!?

And the rest of the stuff below I just threw into this post.. because I had the photos floating around and felt like it :) After all, I haven’t done a fashion/shopping post in a while, right?! So here are a few quick ones..

These are my Marc Jacobs silver sandals. I ADORE Marc Jacobs shoes because they always seem to fit me so well, in designs that really appeal to me, and are super comfy. For example, I wore these sandals ALL day, and almost every day, during our Australia trip… and never got sore feet or blisters. And they were brand new! WIN. The silver is super-shiny so it makes them stand out, but the colour is neutral enough to wear with anything. My favourite casual-wear sandals :)

So comfy :)

And these are another pair I’ve got, my Marc Jacobs teal slingbacks. They have a 2″ chunky heel and are also really comfy. But, really, I got them because I LOVE THE COLOUR. These were purchased a few years ago, but have held up really well and I still love ‘em to bits :)

They pair perfectly with my Loewe nappa leather tote, which is super ultra slouchy and smells so gooooooood.

Lanvin ballet flats are one of the most comfortable flats out there IMHO. There aren’t many that come close. They have a beautifully rounded toe, very soft and supple leather, and an elasticized edge that ‘grip onto my feet well so they shoes don’t flip off at the hell when I walk. Most other elasticized shoes will bite me at the heel and cause blisters, but not Lanvin. Plus, they come in a huge variety of colours, though these metallic-navy blue ones are my favourite because they’re versatile and look awesome with jeans :)

My current favourite iPhone case! It’s a leather one from Unique and comes in a gorgeous colour combination of pink/seafoam/purple. Ain’t it pretty??? It also is very sturdy which I need because Hunter has a habit of throwing my phone onto the ground *sigh*…

This last one here is actually Chris’ goodie, not mine. I bought it for him because he’s an avid reader. The Amazon Kindle is seriously AWESOME. Lightweight, easy to read, and simply one of the greatest inventions. I got the official leather case to go with it, and it comes with a pull-out light as well, for bedtime reading. If you like to read, get the Kindle. You won’t regret it!

LOEWE NAPA LEATHER MINI BAG

I.. erm… caved and bought a wee little hand bag. I forgot the name, so let’s just call it the Loewe napa leather mini bag! It’s this ridiculously soft soft soft leather that is soooo supple and squooshy and smooshy. Ahhhhh… It’s actually the same napa leather as the Loewe leather tote I bought whilst in Barcelona, but just in a mini bag size. I like the simpleness of a plain black bag, and the mini size makes it excellent for when I’m just popping out and not in need of a big bag to stuff all my things into.

I’m also a big fan of the subtle Loewe logo, which is relatively unknown on the streets and embossed into the leather, so it’s not obvious to people. It’s quite the classic little bag that’s versatile enough to go casual or dressed up for a party (like when I carried it to the Brawl on the Bund function the other day)!

Loewe make really really gorgeous, supple leather bags. I’m surprised they’re not more popular!

Loewe… brings back memories of our time in Barcelona a few months ago :)

Little squooshy lambskin bag!

Slouchy goodness. I also like the super-subtle Loewe logo :)

Fits in my essentials with lots of room to spare.

Chic little brass plate, I love this!

FOR SALE: MIU MIU, COACH, LOEWE

Just a little housekeeping note: I’ve received an influx of messages from interested parties on the stuff I’m selling. If you have asked me questions because of a serious intention to buy, PLEASE have the courtesy to respond to me if you decide you don’t want to purchase after all. I’m trying to be fair and ‘holding’ the bag for the 1st person that contacts me, so if that’s you and you promptly ignore my email(s) after I’ve provided you answers to your questions and payment details, you’re holding up others as well as making me hang there for no good reason. I just politely ask that if I’m nice enough to respond to you, please be nice enough to respond to me. Thanks! :)

Anyway…. on with the sale! 3 bags today, all different brands:

Very very rare and long discontinued Miu Miu bag.. in one AWESOME colour – barbie pink!! It’s made from incredibly soft, plush, thick, and luxurious nappa (lambskin) leather. The feel of this is unbelievable – softer than Balenciaga bags – kind of like a very very smooshy pillow. This does NOT feel like the new Miu Miu bags by the way, which are (sadly) made of much harder and less-smooshy leather. I basically just sit there and stroke the beautiful leather and I’m happy *ahem*

I like this bag because it sits well on the shoulder without dropping off (bags tend to do this on my narrow shoulders), but hobo bags aren’t quite my style which is why I’m selling it.

Tag inside says it’s Made in Turkey, and the bag has a fully lined interior. The adorable dangling key cles houses a little gold key (that locks the front clasp) as well as a spare one. Too cute!! What I like most about the bag is the gold clasp on the front. It closes with THE most satisfying *click*. Hard to explain but it feels sooo smooth and nice to *click* it that you’ll probably end up playing with the clasp and *clicking* it again, heh.

The bag measures 9.5″ across, 9″ high, with a handle drop of 9″. Approximate since this is a soft slouchy bag. It fits in very nicely under your shoulder and against your torso. Please note that the piping on the edge has some scuffs on it – not noticeable when carried but you can see when you inspect it up close (see photos). The clasp has very light scratches from normal use but can easily be polished or buffed out, but I haven’t done that yet.

Retails almost US$1,100 though this specific colour and style is long discontinued.

Condition: Great condition, leather colour is still bright and clear. Very slight scuff marks on piping here and there, clasp has very light marks/scratches. Comes with original Miu Miu dustbag.

Price: US$600 including registered airmail shipping (add $20 for EMS/courier with 3-day delivery). ***SOLD***

I was drawn to this ‘lil Coach bag because it was so different to the regular nylon/canvas Coach bags. It has a beautiful ‘feel’ to it that feels VERY similar to Louis Vuitton vernis (specifically in the Framboise colour), which was why I caved and bought it :P Made of patent leather, the bag is soft and pliable, with Coach subtly embossed on it. The bag is water and stain resistent.

This ‘lil baby is a fantastic size and light, but roomy on the inside. The zippered opening (with leather zipper pull) keeps your contents safe and is easy to pull open/shut. I love the front pocket that closes with a solid turnlock clasp made of shiny silver nickle – it feels soooo nice *clicking* it! Perfect to hold your phone and/or tissues, etc.

The bag has attached short leather straps that can be hand-held or carried on the shoulder. But it also comes with a long adjustable leather strap to carry it long on the shoulder, or messenger style. VERY versatile! The pink exterior is waterproof and is quite soft, not hard and sturdy as you would expect, which is why I liked it. Hanging from the front on a ball chain is a Coach keychain, which has a small watermark next to the “C” (see photo).

Interior of the bag is a beautiful soft pink satin, with the Coach leather tab on the inside. The bag has an exterior back slip pocket, exterior front pocket with turnlock closure, 2 interior slip pockets, 1 interior zip pocket.

Measures 12″ (L) at top, 10″ (L) at bottom x 8″ (H) x 3″ (D)16.5″ Adjustable Double Leather Straps with a 7.5″ drop with detachable leather shoulder strap for cross body use

Retails US$298, though this specific colour and style is now discontinued.

Condition: New. There is a small faint watermark on the keychain, it was like this in the boutique. Comes with Coach carry gift bag, care card, and retail price tag.

Price: US$140 including registered airmail shipping (add $20 for EMS/courier with 3-day delivery). ***SOLD***

Completely discontinued and incredibly rare, this Loewe bag is made of pure soft silk and trimmed with smooth leather. The vibrant colour and design was what drew me to this bag, as well as how soft and floppy it is. The silk bag ‘ties’ onto the curved leather handle and has a wide zip (with 2 Loewe-embossed leather zipper pulls) – it makes reaching in to get your stuff really easy since it opens up wide.

The Loewe logo is heat stamped onto the top of the handle and the handle also has 2 sold metal rings where the silk bag ties to. The quality and detail on this bag is absolutely divine! The interior is fully lined in thick linen and the bag will look fabulous paired with a pair of jeans for going out.

Retail was about US$1,500+.. though this is now long discontinued and now not even available on eBay.

Condition: New. Comes with original Loewe dust bag and authenticity cards.

Price: US$800 including registered airmail shipping (add $20 for EMS/courier with 3-day delivery).

EUROTRIP: LOEWE NAPPA LEATHER ALA TOTE

Many of my shopaholic girl friends had already told me that Loewe is much cheaper in Spain, since it’s a Spanish brand. By the way, you pronounce it “loh-eh-veh”, said super duper quickly. Anyway, Loewe is, in my opinion, the #1 brand with the softest leather. Other brands just don’t come close. A close second is Balenciaga, but that was mainly for their first few seasons – now the leather is a lot firmer/stiffer and requires helluvalot of wear-in before it softens.

Considering my rabid obsession with super soft, smooshy leather.. you’re probably wondering why I haven’t bought a Loewe leather bag before. Simply put – the styles didn’t suit me perfectly, and they are freakin’ expensive! You pay for the quality and suppleness of the leather, despite the styles themselves being fairly basic with not a lot of bells and whistles. So for years, I always just wandered their boutiques, touching and stroking and lusting over the leather.. but never buying anything.

Until we were in Barcelona :P

As luck would have it, they had a new style in stock: the Loewe nappa leather Ala tote. I ran to the bags like a crazy woman and started stroking them in delight. The style was PERFECT. Utterly simple and basic, it’s just a plain ‘ol tote. Specifically, I loved the perfect medium size and the way it sits on me, and I love the drop length of the handles, and I love how the handles are thin (I don’t like thick straps as they fall off my narrow shoulders). Most of all……….. the smell and feel of the leather.

Napa leather is one of the lightest and thinnest in the world, measuring at 0.7mm. These bags are made with lambskin with organic dye, and the smell of the bag is INTOXICATING. I just keep leaning over to breathe it in, and giving it a stroke with my fingers, resembling just the kind of lady you quickly pull your kids away from.

It smells soooo goooooood! And most of all, it is ultra, super duper light-weight. After all, it’s just really thin nappa leather with some lining on the inside and that’s it. Oh, did I mention it’s also the cheapest of their bags? Their only style I like, and it’s the cheapest one… SCORE :D I was a very good girl though and put it back on the shelf so I could “think about it over the next few days”, to Chris’ surprise. He’s the perfect bag shopping partner – patiently stands there (albeit looking a little bit lost) whilst I swoon over the bags, gives his opinion on all the bags I try on, touches and inspects the bags, then urges me to buy it if I like it – perfect husband material :P

4 days later, I was still loving the bag, so we went back and picked it up!

LOEWE!

Happy shopping bag :P
