CARTER’S TIFFANY & CO PUSH PRESENT, ELLY INITIAL NECKLACE

Just the sight of that bag is enough to make me go weak at the knees…. ;)

Hunter’s push present was a no brainer, because I’d been wanting it for ages (perfect colour, and “H” for Hunter!) and Chris had also spent ages scouring various Hermes boutiques to locate one.

But for Carter, I couldn’t think of anything that I reaaalllyyyy wanted for his push present. So I told Chris I didn’t want anything, yet. Well, the only item that I did want was the Cartier love bangle (it also tickled me that the brand name was just one-letter off from Carter!), but at around $7k, it’s pure insanity and I wouldn’t spend that much on jewellery for myself… mainly because all I think about these days is “hmm what would that money otherwise buy for my kids?”. It also cost $4k (*faint*) to fly our family to Australia this Christmas to visit Chris’ family… so I gave up all hope of having a blockbuster push present for Carter.

In the end, I found the perfect piece, just by chance. It’s small, it’s simple, it’s classic. And it’s something I can wear 24/7 for the rest of my life :)

It’s the Tiffany & Co gold necklace, with solid gold H” disc charm and “C” disc charm!

In my favourite colour to boot :)

I was particularly drawn towards the solid gold version, because of the lovely weight of the discs. They’ll also patina beautifully with time, and will last.

And obviously “C” for Carter, and “H” for Hunter”!

I figure the “C” can also stand for Chris.. was tempted to get a “B” for my name too, but the discs aren’t cheap and I didn’t dare to spend more money, so I left it at 2 discs.

They feel beautiful  on my neck and I love fingering the smoothness and warmth of the gold. I also like how they can be worn as charms on a bracelet, if I prefer.

A very meaningful push present… thanks Chris :P

Here it is on me!

So I found something whimsical and cutesy from Elly, for the “b” part! It’s a custom-made locket that you can choose in various shapes, colours and design, and with the initial of your choice.

Here’s a selection of ready-made lockets below… HOW CUTE ARE THEY??

Like little candy drops

I got a square shape because I thought it looked funky, and in pink. And I was debating between a sweet turquoise or pink… and in the end I chose pink, but I still like the turquoise one :P

“b” pendant from Elly!

My only issue is that the 2 chains are the same length.. so I either need to get the Elly chain in a longer version, or take the “b” off and put it on the gold chain.

The 3 initials of my family :)

PREGNANCY UPDATE/VIDEO AT 32 WEEKS

I’m actually starting to struggle being pregnant, now that I’m well into my 3rd trimester.

About a week ago, I suddenly got hit with hot flushes. I’ll be fine.. then suddenly start sweating out of nowhere! I’m not the sort that sweats, normally. In fact, I can go jogging and not really sweat a whole lot. So this is new and very annoying for me. Worst of all, my FEET get so hot I could scream!! It’s like someone stuck ‘em in a super-hot sauna and I can’t escape. Really unpleasant, and has me reduced to sitting with my feet dunked in a bucket of water whenever I’m home. Seriously, I’m the epitome of ‘barefoot and pregnant’ right now.

I’m not sure if this is a me-thing, or if it affects pregnant women in Singapore because it’s just so freakin’ hot here?? With Hunter, it was winter in Shanghai, so I had no issues.

My other problem is that Baby #2 is active…. ALL the time. So active that the doc has trouble seeing him in every single ultrasound, and of course a 3D one is out of the question, even though we tried. He can’t stop moving! His movement is strong, like Hunter’s, but the difference is that Hunter would have quiet spells and would “sleep through the night” all night. With #2, NO WAY – if I’m lucky he just wiggles all through the night. If I’m unlucky I get woken up every 30-60mins with massive kicks and thumps :( It means I get very broken sleep and I am crazy worried – this sounds like a very active baby that does NOT sleep through the night easily, does it not??!??!?

Baby #2, at 32 weeks… kicking up a storm

Boy, we are in for a wild ride once he’s out…

PREGNANCY #2: MONTH 7

7+ months pregnant

Here I am at Week 29. I missed the previous month’s (Month 6) update, because between the Australia trip and all our outings, I never got round to it. There was actually nothing to say anyway, and frankly, same goes for this month!

There’s really nothing much to report on, as nothing’s changed apart from the fact that my belly suddenly shot up in size, compared to the previous update for Month 5. I’ve put on almost 10KG so far, which is WHOPPING. Not surprisingly, Baby #2 is a big baby. He’s tracking about 1 week ahead in size and the doctor is getting a bit worried. There’s no real way I can try and slow down the growth though.. because apparently big babies are hereditary and Chris has the big genes! I was born a small/medium baby, but he was a big baby at around Hunter’s size too :( So I just try not to fret too much about it, and just deal with it since this is a fact, and my reality, LOL..

Symptoms-wise, nothing really. Just the physical heaviness of lugging around an extra 10KG, not to mention carrying Hunter around the place on top of that. So that’s like carrying around an extra 22KG sometimes…… HALF MY BODY WEIGHT EXTRA. Can you imagine carrying around half your body weight extra?? It’s not easy! I try not to carry Hunter too much, since I know it’s not good for me, but sometimes he just insists and I find it really hard to say ‘no’ to those big eyes..

But, other than that, no cramps or varicose veins or nausea or sleepiness or anything else.. so I’m grateful I can still go about my daily business with Hunter. Anyway, I’d better take full advantage of it before I have “Two kids under two”, which is notorious for being unbelievably difficult!

PREGNANCY #2: MONTH 5

5 months pregnant

I’m at around Week 21 now and freakin’ GIGANTIC. My belly doesn’t look that obvious in the above photo, but trust me, my friends that haven’t seen me in the past few weeks have *gasped* when they saw me recently. I’d say I can pass off as around 7-8 months pregnant right now, if you see me in real life. Not because I’m growing a giant baby (err… hopefully I’m not!) but apparently because of “lax stomach muscles”. Apparently with your #2 pregnancy, most women pop a lot earlier because your stomach muscles aren’t as strong to hold everything in. Sigh!

I’m feeling very good otherwise, which is really nice. I did have one particular day when baby head-butted my nerve or something, and my right bum/thigh felt really trapped and I couldn’t walk or stand properly. That was pretty awful, but apart from that one day, I haven’t had any other pregnancy symptoms and life continues on as usual. I’m grateful for that, because it still means my day-to-day life with Hunter carries on like I’m not pregnant. I guess I will start slowing down over the next few months though, as I get bigger and bigger!

I also felt kicks starting at Week 17, which is early but normal for a second pregnancy. Now, the kicks are so strong and frequent my belly actually wobbles (!!).. this didn’t happen with Hunter ’til at least 1-2 months later!

I’ve put on 4.5KG so far. I’m pleased because in comparison I’d put on 6KG at this stage when I was pregnant with Hunter. YAY achievement!!!! :D I’m hoping I don’t blow out to a 16KG weight gain at the end like I did with Hunter, because I’m not convinced I’ll snap back into pre-pregnancy shape within 2 weeks like I did with Hunter…

*wave*

Funny how babies look like weird aliens in ultrasounds, yet manage to make their parents feel all mushy and goopy inside ;)

And we’ve known for almost a month now but I wanted to wait until the next Pregnancy #2 update to reveal the news… but…

We are having a BOY!!

Looks like Hunter will have an instant best mate to play with ;) It’s also going to be interesting to see if our next boy looks just like Hunter, or if they look pretty different. But my greatest wish is that he will be as mild-mannered and sweet, and not too feisty, haha!

Name? We haven’t locked any in, but will over the next few months. Will announce publicly after the birth :)

PREGNANCY #2: MONTH 4

4 months pregnant

Thanks for all your well wishes in my previous pregnancy announcement post. They are much appreciated! And sorry if it seemed a bit cryptic.. credit goes to Chris and my cousin Amanda for thinking it up; I merely executed it ;)

So since everyone has been asking, I’m almost 4 months pregnant now.. We discovered the news around Christmas.. which made a nice Christmas surprise for us. It definitely came as a surprise, as we’d actually planned to have a baby next year, and not quite so soon! The downside being this is the Year of the Dragon.. and every Chinese person seems to be rather desperate to have a Dragon baby (dohhhhh) – which translates into a huge spike in births and the follow-on overloading of schools etc may be a bit of a problem. Ugh. But, I guess this was God’s wish, so here we are!

The pregnancy has been really smooth so far, much like it was with Hunter. Very thankful for that! I was hit by late-afternoon tiredness for around 2 weeks early on, but it wasn’t very bad and it soon passed. Apart from that, no puking or cramps or whatever else a pregnant woman can get. Whew! Though, I am breaking out quite a bit since falling pregnant – grrrrr!!! A far cry from being pregnant with Hunter, when my  skin went super smooth, poreless and blemish-free.

Hunter and our #2 baby will be exactly 18 months apart. It will be lovely to have a baby boy, because they will grow up best buddies (since they are aged so closely), but it’ll also be wonderful to have a baby girl to dress up (and inherit all my handbags/jewellery, haha). Anyhow, we find out the gender next month :)

Our utmost concern though was to make sure the pregnancy was progressing as planned and the baby was kickin’ healthy. And CRIPES our baby is active!!! He/she kicked up a storm during both the ultrasounds we’ve had so far, twisting and turning and dancing all over the place, with arms and legs waving everywhere. Our doc even commented that the baby appeared extraordinarily active. It was exactly the same with Hunter (who was so active people across the room would see my stomach wobble repeatedly), and he was born very docile and un-hyperactive, so I hope #2 is similar ;)

Our #2 at Week 12

On the downside, I am growing ANOTHER big baby. What the….?! #2′s head is measuring 1 week ahead, JUST LIKE HUNTER DID. I put on a show-stopping, jaw-dropping 16KG with Hunter… so I guess I should resign myself to the fact that I’ll put on around that amount with #2 too. Post-birth with Hunter, I (fortunately) dropped all 16KG within 2 weeks. Somehow, I don’t feel so lucky with #2… mainly because I am already showing!! With Hunter it was after Week 20 that my belly started pooching out a little. With #2, it was more like Week 8. Gah. I’ve put on a little under 2KG so far at Week 16 – can’t remember if that’s more or less than what I put on when I was pregnant with Hunter at this stage.

So, I am due mid-August this year. Very exciting for us, and for our families :)

Hunter’s gonna be a BIG BROTHER!!
